Energy For Future Engineering LLC Kansas City
For more than three years, KCP&L has been pleased to offer our residential and commercial customers in Missouri a $2.00/watt rebate encouraging investment in solar technology for their homes and businesses.
The payment of solar rebates each year is subject to an annual 1% electric retail rate impact cap, meaning the amount that KCP&L spends on renewable energy, including the rebates paid to solar customers, cannot exceed a one percent increase in rates affecting all KCP&L customers.
Missouri law also established the amount per watt of rebate payments every year until 2020, at which time solar rebate payments will no longer be available.*
System Operational Dates
Before June 30, 2014$2.00/watt Between July 1, 2014 – June 30, 2015$1.50/watt Between July 1, 2015 – June 30, 2016$1.00/watt Between July 1, 2016 – June 30, 2019$.50/watt Between July 1, 2019 – June 30, 2020$.25/watt

Given the popularity of our solar energy rebate program, we want to ensure a transparent and fair application process in order to distribute limited rebate dollars on an annual basis. Going forward, the process for review of all net metering and solar rebate applications will include the following steps.
Once your net metering application has been received by KCP&L and an initial review shows that the forms are filled out correctly, KCP&L Engineering will review the application. For projects 10 kilowatts or less, KCP&L has 30 days to review the net metering application. For projects more than 10 kilowatts, KCP&L has 90 days to review the net metering application.
